Founded in 1990 by Moira Miller, Prima Stage School is a professional institution dedicated to nurturing the talents and passions of all its students. Since 2019, the school has been managed by the charitable trust tmactive, which, in partnership with Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, manages a range of leisure facilities in the borough.

At Prima, we follow the prestigious IDTA Graded syllabus for Ballet, Tap, Modern Contemporary, and offer medal tests in Musical Theatre and Street Dance. We also teach Drama through the renowned LAMDA syllabus. Students typically dedicate 12 to 18 months to each grade and we take pride in our outstanding exam results, with a 100% pass rate.

Our classes are structured to ensure every child is given the individual attention they deserve. Children are never held back, and we avoid mixing grades in our classes to maintain a focused, tailored approach to learning. The average number of students in a syllabus class is 8, with a maximum of 12, ensuring an optimal learning environment. For our medal test classes, we may accommodate up to 15 students.

At Prima, we understand that children can only be stretched so far, which is why we bring in top London choreographers for regular workshops in all areas of performance. These workshops are open to all students, and we actively encourage those who show potential to audition for prestigious outside companies like the English Youth Ballet, National Youth Ballet, local pantomimes, and the CAT scheme at Trinity Laban, helping them broaden their performance skills.

Our students also enjoy the excitement of performing on stage in our polished, professional productions. Each year, we host either a Junior or Senior show, alongside a dedicated Drama showcase to celebrate our talented actors.

With over 80 classes available for all ages and abilities, from 2 years old to 18+, there’s a place for everyone at Prima.
