Rhythm, musicality and timing
Tap dance has its roots in the fusion of several ethnic percussive dances, including Spanish flamenco, African tribal dances, English clog dancing and Irish jigs.
Tap is all about rhythms and syncopation, and dancers use their shoes to tap the floor like percussionists. It’s amazing what a tap dancer can create from six taps, a few hops, a couple of springs, a step and a stamp!
Tap dancing is a great way to enhance musicality and timing.
